Nancy,

Other verses that indicate that few are saved:

Matthew 7:14
Luke 13:24
I Peter 3:20
Revelation 3:4

But suppose I didn't have even one verse that indicates that most people are headed to that great eternal sauna with the broken thermostat. What about the countless millions that aren't Christians?
Two thirds of the world's population today is not Christian. And I'm just referring to the people that are alive right now. That doesn't include the countless millions that have been born and died since the world came into existence about five thousand years ago.
And what was their sin? Well, Adam let his wife talk him into doing something stupid.

So God says, "Adam, you're going to die. And not only are you going to die but so is everyone else because of what you've done. And not only are countless others going to die, but most of them are going to suffer terribly for all eternity. I know you're thinking this is a poor plan. I know you're thinking that you would never make anyone, much less someone you brought into this world, suffer for eternity. But this is the best plan I can come up with. I know you're wondering why I didn't impose this kind of penalty on ALL the Angels when some of them forsook Me and followed Satan. But, hey, I'm God. If I set a double standard what's that to you?"

Nancy, could a child of yours do anything terrible enough that would make you decide to punish him for all eternity? Of course not.
