KM Re: Niles's comments:

'People buy from Dell to get the biggest, fastest, latest machines,' Niles said. 'Customers may turn elsewhere' he said of the stop-gap plan. 'We will have to see what happens with demand if that is their strategy.'

If true, where are they going to turn? SDRAM prices have increased for everyone, so where is the "elsewhere"? <gg>

So there are earnings concerns for IBM and CPQ and analysts are talking about a ripple effect throughout the boxmaker industry. I wonder where Dell customers could be turning to. Probably to those low priced e-machines? Maybe they could provide more memory since they are probably more able to absorb higher memory prices. gg.

I am sure that Dell will give customers a choice of how much memory they want, even if the cost will be higher. I am sure we will find out soon.
