Where is that idiot Mohan the dell bull when you need him.
Disappeard when things get a little rough. For the past year he had been preaching about dell going to the moon.

Hi Reseller and all:
Lets see whadawegot so far:
1. Dell is obtaining 55 to 60% of the contracts they bid on
2. Computer and memory sales are so brisk the industry cannot keep up with demand. Dells production of notebooks with LCD's
so large they could not get timely delivery of displays even before the quake.
3. The relentless decrease in prices of PC's may just have come to a screeching halt, ruining one of the bear analysts few remaining
arguments for a decline of the PC industry income growth.
4. If IBM and CPQ, with no profits in sight, hold resale prices and choke down the added component costs their red ink will multiple
If they raise PC prices( as Apple already did) then Dell will eat them alive.
5. Dell has not said earnings estimates would not be met,
they said margins would be affected. Its up to us or the analysts
to figure the earnings. Niles has been as close as anyone
on estimating Dells financials. I think he estimates $.18
which should not kill the stock on Nov 11 th. Its the forward
looking statements that are presented that will determine
Dell's short term price. There has been no change in those
and growth still looks like 40%+/yr.
6. Dell got to where they are at thru years of successful
negotiations on price and delivery (among other things)
They should be very good at it by now, and do better than
most at procuring items in temporary short supply.
7. I think most supplying companies know, or will be easily convinced, that Dell will soon be the #1 computer manufacturer and thus be as accommodating as possible in this hour of need. It would give them ensured future work for years, in a volatile Asian
economy.
Long term Dell picture=unchanged
Short term price- who knows?.
Sig

Reseller. Re: The $64 question is, would Dell have warned for a penny short of mean estimates?

To me the $64 question is: What would you have done if they HAD warned of a penny short of mean estimate?

I personally would have done nothing.

But again. I think there was a little caution a cpl of weeks ago about memory.
