If companies were responsible for correcting rumors, that's all they would have time to do. I don't think a company can be held for what other public people say.

A company can however, sue for damages on harmful rumors, as long as they can prove what was said and who stated it as actual fact when it wasn't.

Just as an aside, if nothing else, the pr proves that the company actually exists.

actually,

"if your information was factually incorrect or misleading, wouldn't the company be legally responsible to verify it?"

I could also be held somewhat responsible legally..this why I am insisting that this is a compile of gathered info and I have 2 disclaimers on the front page alone.
lets look at this from a legal standpoint:

The qvc /FHTV PR was found elswhere on the net...i did not link to it because if the site it was on was out of order,
it would be a broken link..many will verify that that PR was legit.

Surfmandu's contribution ..basically self explainatory.

The ad in Individual investor....was published in the magazine....I have it here and it must go back to the library!

The link to 3 internet message boards...nothing wrong with that.

a few links to various posts on RB and SI..I didn't make those posts.

Thier address and info...public knowledge

Now the "FAX" ...is labeled "THE FAX" this is the famous "FAX" that they are talking about on the net.
I don't know this to be a top secret document.

I heard it was but "I heard" doesn't mean crapola

1) The company has made no attempt to call or email
me despite the email link on the bottom of the front page.

2) I can tell you right now that if they wanted to sue me,
the first thing there lawyer is going to say to them is "ask the guy to remove it then see what he does" and send him that in a registered letter.

it wouldn't even take that much..just an e-mail from the
comapny address would suffice.
