John--my system goes flat after a certain profit target is reached.

This target was determined based on past history and typically once it is reached whether on the upside or downside, the move that is left is likely to be typically around 1% -- very rarely as in the case of this latest signal it got to just over 2% additional decline. Anything greater than that would mean that we are looking at something that is outside the norm and is indicative of market dynamics having changed in some fundamental way as occurred in September/October of last year. If that occurred, quite honestly, my system would miss the move -- since it would have taken me flat.

The downward price action and momentum that we have experienced was such that a buy signal on my system will not be triggered as easily as it would have under normal conditions.

I am looking to go short both in the contest and for real --at some point soon with a reversal to the long side if/when a buy signal is triggered for position trading.
