GV,

Clearly the big spike in DRAM prices occurred more than 2 weeks ago, not last week as DELL maintained last night. I
think that they're now making up an excuse because they failed to warn analysts during the meeting a couple of weeks
ago. Back then, I think that DELL thought that they could get lucky and pull out the quarter. Now, less than 2 weeks
before the end of the quarter, it is apparent that they cannot.

Now that's a pretty fair country piece of reasoning, I would say. Dell seat of the pants guidance methodology. You don't think much of them, which opinion I wasn't aware of. Thanks for being frank, or straight. Back to the DRAM feast or famine syndrome, far be it from me to figure out why it has to be that way, i.e., feast or famine for DRAM, with all the superpower semiconductor companies that are into it. What is up with that?

Tony

I read a report today saying that DELL might report 5-7 cents for this coming quarter. I have been thinking about this DELL warning for some time. My brokerage house buddy has warned me 3 times in the last two weeks that DELL was about to warn. I did not take it seriously until late last week. Here is what I think:

IF DELL IS ABLE TO PULL IN NUMBER ANYWHERE CLOSE TO 20 CENTS, THEY WILL DO THEIR BEST TO MAKE UP THE MESS. YOU PLAY A FEW TRICKS HERE AND THERE, AND YOUR EARNING REPORT LOOKS GREAT. IT MUST HAVE BEEN A PRETTY BAD SITUATION THAT DELL HAS TO WARN. IT'S DEFINITELY NOT THAT THEY ARE GOING TO MISS THE QUARTER BY A COUPLE OF PENNIES. SHOULD BE MORE THAN THAT.

OR IF THE SITUATION IS EVEN WORSE THAT DELL IS USING THE EARTHQUAKE AS AN EXCUSE TO MAKE UP FOR SOME SERIOUS SHITTY ISSUES?? IT'S INTERESTING TO KNOW THAT TAIWAN IS NOT EVEN ONE OF THE TOP PLACES TO GET DRAM......
