DIPY: I did not pay one red cent for any of the services you mentioned. But it exists. It was there when the British were there. It just continued. It is going to take people to insist on entitled services without Baksheesh. It exists differently here. Aren't you robbed $1.00 every time you take your money out ATM. Aren't you charged $10.00 for remitting your credit card charges one day late. Aren't you robbed of your 25C in the phone booth, $1.25 in the softdrink machine. Your rebate checks don't come. get charged more than you owe on credit cards - duplicate entries / charges. if you are so particular, why do you pay 15 -20% tip on your food bill? Here the gratuity is institutionalized. There it is free for all. You like it here, because it appears clean and sterile. There it is dirty. The Indians are not getting rich from their gratuities, but here they are.
