There was a wonderful book I read to the kids when they were little, "Harold and the Purple Crayon." It was way over their heads, but I I I loved it. Sometimes, as a mother, you just have to go with what speaks to you. My absolute favorite was, and is, "The Pobble Who Has No Toes." I made up a tune and would sing it whenever the kids wanted a bedtime song. That, and I made up a tune to "The Owl and the Pussycat." I would sing that with different voices for the owl, the pussycat, and the piggy-wig with a ring on the end of his nose. If we ever meet, please be sure to ask me to sing "The Owl and the Pussycat," followed by "The Pobble Who Has No Toes." About ten years ago, when Nick was almost 2, he turned to me, and said, "no sing, mama." And that was that.

Funny how so often the kids that come along and challenge us are boys.

So Funny!

Our good friends had the same thing happen to them! When used to take Ryan out to dinner with them and he was a hell raiser! Tossing food on the floor, climbing under the tables etc. Every once in a while I would hear. "Our kids will never act up like that in a restaurant"!.

Then they had Teddy. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! He is the worst hell raiser I have ever seen!! He pushes, kicks, bites, throws food and then has temper tantrums which are worse!

She called one night in tears for advice about how to get him to go to bed. I had this really weird feeling of sorrow and glee. And it's all perfectly normal behavior for a 2-3 year old! (especially BOYS) Parenting can be a very humbling experience.

Different subject...How did you handle allowances Penni? Or did you do them? I think Ryan may be ready for one but I'm not sure it's the right thing to do.
