Chuck: <<In the near term AMD hinted to us that it was (is) possible for the Athlon to hit a 750MHz speed using their current .25um process, but that the chip pass/fail rate
at that speed could not support the economics or production volume necessary for supporting a full Athlon 750 launch.>>

Do you still think that AMD will do 750 launch around 25th? Sure hope so!

Chuckles - Re: "http://www.sharkyextreme.com/hardware/weekly_cpu/b.shtml

{=============================}

What's The Deal With AMD, Are Faster Athlons Coming Before 2000?

Lots of rumors concerning AMD seem to pop up daily all over the net lately, as the Athlon has justifiably generated a lot of positive interest in the company's near-future product launches.

We spoke with executives at AMD directly last week to ascertain the details concerning their upcoming Athlon models and were definitively told that the new Athlon 700 CPU will likely be the last Athlon CPU launched before January 2000"

{==================================}

Isn't AMD supposed to launch a 750 MHz Athlon on October 24/25 ?

Charles, According to Sharky, only 700-Athlon on .25 by year-end??? Not good news to AMD-ites, like Jimmy Mac, who thinks you'll be able to buy a 900+ Athlon by year-end!!!!. Also, lot of 'IFs' and 'best-case scenarios' predicates Athlon at 1G by mid-2000. Smart money is betting against it, especially with what Intel has up its sleeve in terms of upcoming products and pricing.

Charles - <Where is P860?>

Why?

P858 should have not problem keeping up the AMD roadmap outlined in that article.
