To All: Here is a good summary of the MSFT cc compiled by Amy over on the INTC thread:
RE: "Microsoft Conference Call "
1- Unearned revenue dropped? Due to what type of 1-time charges pertaining to employees? Did you catch that part of the explanation?

2- This is significant for Intel: "Enterprise market segment is growing faster than the departmental level." This implies acceptance at the high-end, where margins are better

3- My favorite quote was: "it eclipsed a Sun machine with Oracle."

4- The tone of the CFO, along with the two preceding quotes above, implies to me, Intel and Microsoft have an excellent opportunity on the high-end, at the expense of the aforementioned Mountain View company

5- I thought I heard him say something about $.03 up from the estimates could be possible, in response to a question? Did you hear him say, "I've seen your models, and they don't include" upside? from WinY2k, and he said this is good because it will take time for it to work into the channels... yet he said, "RTM is still 12/31/99"

6- He said... "laptops should immediately adopt the new OS, you won't see the usual delay with the laptop market" during this adoption

7- My interpretation of this the CC is:
- Adoption could be faster than usual
- Some solid signs of acceptance in the Enterprise market. This is good for Intel

8- PC demand strong

9- MS-Asia (revenue?) up 82%

Everything sounds good for Intel too.

I'll probably increase INTC & MS holdings.

t2-

Hey t2 what do you say......Billy Kicked butt good and hard.

Nay sayers will have a bit of explaining to do today huh! Bet CNBC doesn't put them up today.

Oh dear (the nay sayers must think) if the Asian economies can put all these earnings into Mr Softee and they have only just BEGUN their recovery what on earth will happen when the Asian economies really get going and maybe one fine day even the European economies will recover a little ...then what? Oooooops

Ah well I suppose they can pin all their hopes on the Justice Department and the Judge bringing down a great American company that is leading the charge for US exports just at the time when the Country needs the exports most.

Best regards,

L
