Well, there is the answer. . .[SPECULATION:] I suspect that IBM reversed its stupid decision, when a director of Office Max called them and told them they were canceling all Christmas orders, yanking all IBMs off the shelf, returning all IBM product and filing a lawsuit against IBM for breach of contractual agreements.

And furthermore, I suspect that IBM probably had to cut a rebate deal with Office Max just to smooth things over. . . my guess is a 20% discount or rebate on all PCs ordered between now and the end of the year. . . .and the head of the numbskull with the idea that IBM stop selling computers through retail stores is no doubt working on his resume today.

And THAT is how business in the retail world really works.
