A decade back as a graduate student I saw the following poster on one of my advisor's door.

A nation which pays its 30 year old

1) research scientists $25000/year
2) engineers $45000/year
3) management personnel $80000/year
4) investment bankers $250000/year
5) entertainment professionals $1000000/year
6) athletes $5000000/year

has some problem with its priorities.
