Darrell - All a matter of context. If the market tanks and my puts are at risk again I will probably be as irrational as the next guy. I have been a little concerned that some of the familiar folks on this thread are stretching hard to find gold in every event in the industry. DELL is in the process of serious change, and has been for over a year. The culture and thinking that works for a tightly knit, focused and relatively small company does not necessarily work when the company goes from underdog to top dog. I think DELL is a great and well managed company, and their stock performance has been a wonder. But what counts for investors is not what has happened but what will happen. I intend to watch all of my investments with as unbiased an eye as possible. I learned a valuable lesson last year with CPQ - knowing a lot about the company is no guarantee that I will see the underlying issues, especially if I am willing to "write off" the things that don't fit. I knew a number of people at CPQ whom I respected, and I took their ethic as the culture. They are mostly gone from CPQ now, and CPQ was and is a lot different than the company they thought they were working for. I had my own "rose colored glasses" on and it cost me a bunch. I do not put any faith in Mikey's smile, or in the pronouncements that senior management makes - they are human like anyone else and they are in the midst of a serious challenge. They have made a number of mis-steps this year and they will make more. If the boat hits rough water, they will not look out for me, I have to look out for myself, and I would advise every DELL investor to do the same. Now is not the time for blind faith, it is a time for careful monitoring and some downside planning. I am not a doom and gloom specialist, and my view of DELL's future is currently fairly positive and is well known to readers of this thread. But events could change my view. The public and private opinions of the well -informed investors on this thread are a big part of the way I test those views. Lets continue to encourage as diverse a discussion as we can manage to support, we will all be better for it.
