IBM is still into mainframes, something that's much less Y2K compliant than PC's.

Not really. The mainframes that were not Y2K compliant are generations old and are either scrapped (vast majority) or fixed, if their owners have any clue. Newer mainframes (last 10 years or so) are a no-brainer re Y2K compliance). Y2K is almost all FUD, very little reality. IBM was most susceptible to the FUD, since they're are THE mainframe company.
