I don't get it..I think you are so correct about competition ..
but it just seems as if we really are headed now towards a global economy and what will be good for one country might be good for another..
I am also assuming that there is going to be a lot of "wooing" going around.. ie what we have witnessed the United States doing with China..good will might now be the screaching cry as we enter the next century..
but I think the US's policy with the strong dollar might have cost them a huge amount of good will..
ps I spoke with a Japanese grad student a couple of years ago and asked isn't there incredible animosity between the chinese and the Japanese etc from past war.. he seemed very wise and said if economically one can benefit the other..all is pushed under the rug
