Thread, Tom Pabst has finally gone off the deep end. Read his latest blurb:www6.tomshardware.com I posted this link for the benefits of AMD supporters and detractors alike, but you can tell which side I'll be taking. Here's a list of some of his comments that are bound to cause controversy: -----------------------------------Taiwanese motherboard makers would rather have China invade Taiwan than getting in trouble with almighty Intel. Maybe you'd rather have the Nazis take over Germany again than "give in" to mighty Intel. Tom, show us the proof. You seem absolutely convinced that Intel is indeed strong-arming, yet you still haven't provided any substantial evidence. How come you're not addressing AMD's own comments saying that they haven't seen any anti-Athlon pressure from the motherboard makers? How come you're still not able to produce a smoking gun, despite all your connections?Intel's own i820-chipset might not be out until next year, Tell that to Paul Otellini of Intel, who said that 820 will be released in Q4 99.Intel is so scared by Athlon's performance and popularity, that they even made up a rumor of releasing mysterious 'Willamette' at 1100 MHz 6 months early in December 1999, just to get some positive headlines. Maybe you ought to read some other publications besides the yellow-bellied Register.May I ask on which platform Willamette is supposed to run at? Maybe Intel should try and use the good old 430FX-chipset for it. Brilliant, Tom, simply brilliant. You have Intel all figured out. Ladies and gentlemen, 430FX is currently being adapted for Willamette. You heard it here first.Intel may scare Taiwanese motherboard makers, but we, their actual customers, should be able to scare them even more. I suggest something more drastic than writing a petition; we've got to scare them really badly, more than chipzilla was able to scare them so far. And now you've taken to calling Intel "chipzilla," just like the Yuk-Yuk Register. By the way, what are you going to do to "scare Intel"? Start publishing false benchmark scores for Intel products and claim that they deserved it? Sorry, Tom, but until you get rid of this damned anti-Intel vendetta of yours, I'll have to deem you as too biased to be trusted. (Hello Anand and Sharky!) ------------------------------------- By the way, I really ought to send this to Tom via personal e-mail, but I'm sure there are other offended employees of Intel who will make Tom eat his words. And I'm not talking about PR, either. Tenchusatsu
