<<<Why should I keep this stock? I need convincing>>>

Tough question
1.
Dell has flat spots....
Feb 1989 for 7 months
July 1991 for 10 months
Jan 1993 for 2 years and 2 months
Sep 1995 for 9 months
Sep 1997 for 4 months
Jan 1999 to date for 10 months
2. If you place many good- moving techs on a historic chart with Dell, it takes a minimum of about 6 months to distinguish that
Dell is a better performer than the rest.
3. Dell has taken a minimum of three major hits this year
(Niles predictions, one slack earnings, the IBM thing), which have nothing to do with the long-term outlook.
For the above reasons, no conclusion can be drawn from price alone as to whether Dell is a better long term investment than another equity, so it should not be discarded on price alone.
That leaves an evaluation based on comparing Dells 40%
average growth with that of other companies, or a faith that
Dell's company philosophy is still intact and will permit
Dell to outperform others as it has in the past.
( >54,000 % gain over the years)
(Others may chose to use double-bottoms, head and shoulders,
candlesticks or other common household goods to evaluate)
Personally, I am keeping a minimum of 5k Dell plus all
Leaps, if only to watch bears eat crow and humble pie next
July.
Sig

Hi!!
RE: Back on the first trading day of 1999 I bought 1000 shares of DELL at 37. Today it closed at 39 1/2. I could have done as well with a T-bill. Why should I keep this stock? I need convincing.

Convincing?? Ummmmm...Let me see...If you read this thread and follow some of the positive advice..I think you would discover that you should BUY MORE DELL...Let me ask you a question: Why would I be begging for money to BUY MORE NOW when I own a "few shares" already?
:o)

BUY DELL

Best, kemble
