Yes, it is! I believe people should be paid what they're worth in cash, not dreams. Just too many stories about the lucky few cashing in big-time and not enough about those who devote their heart and soul to an organization that tanks.

P.S. ... a long-time secretary retires with 30 mil I can't find it in my heart to criticize the founder...

I still maintain that overpaying for anything, secretaries included, is poor management. I also still maintain that if this secretary had purchased her stock from her (fair) salary, she's entitled to her good fortune, but then she'd received her 30 mil from investing, not working.

I once worked with a secretary who did buy company stock from her salary and did see it grow to over a million. She deserved it.

I suppose many people will work for dreams. But then, many buy lottery tickets too.

P.P.S. You're changing my mind on this. It may be better management to pay peanuts and dreams. The 'big wins' will encourage the little people and cost less overall than paying everyone fairly. LasVegas seems able to follow this model with considerable success. I just don't wish to exploit working people.
