Stephen, IBM was papered over by the usual post bond market close futures manipulation imo...however, IBM's warning was still an important watershed event for all things tech. IBM is too big to be dismissed as "company specific". so is INTC, i might add...the co. that managed to miss three times in a row, in spite of probably using every accounting trick in the book(just a hunch)to make their earnings look better than they really are, and the management of which continues to predict a bright future. it is actually breathtaking what passes for analysis on WS these days (who in the analyst community warned about IBM? all i heard on CNBC were buy recommendations all the way down)and to what degree people are prepared to swallow the BS fed to them by the companies themselves.
sorry for the ranting and venting, but sometimes it has to be said that things are as they are and not as they are spun by the stock pimps and the executives with their options...

re: CSCO, i don't believe the rumor about them missing the quarter, but it's in the realm of the possible that they may have some words of caution with regards to the immediate future.

regards,

hb
