E-shopping in India grows at 150%

ONLINE shopping turnover in India is estimated at Rs 130 crore out of a total retail market of Rs 5,00,000 crore.

According to Mr Sanjiv Singhal, director-business development, CyberCash India Pvt Ltd, Internet-based shopping in the country is growing at a rate of around 150 per cent per annum as compared to 200 per cent per annum in the US. Online shopping turnover is the US stands at $12 billion (about Rs 50,500 crore), he said. (ET 10/22/99)
