Monitoring PCs - isolated or on a network:

I am interested in references that describe all strategies for monitoring PC use by someone other than the user. I am interested in files that document use outside of the usual browser history and cache files.

For example, I read recently that by hitting CRTL-ALT-DEL and looking at the Program Close box, you can find potential monitoring programs. The problem is that some of those programs are not obvious. I would like also identify where those programs are writing to, so that those files can be deleted.

Thanks,

George D.

Linux has a long way to go before it will beat MSFT. It could give them a run for the money in the server area against NT for some applications. I can't see it happening on the desktop. Windows is fairly easy to install and has the programs people want to run.

For the technically inclined it's neat to play with on a spare machine. My main machines still run variations of Windows because the programs I want (need) to run are Windows based.
