Regarding the question as to whether a meeting of thread participants would be tax deductible, the answer is unfortunately no. Investment related seminars were disallowed as a deduction a few years ago. Even under the old rule there would be allocations between business and personal and then the deduction would only be allowed to those that itemize. It was also deducted as a miscellaneous expense subject to reduction by 2% of AGI.

You know I raise that question all the time. What can you deduct? Standard answer is that the only thing left is the Mortgage on your home. That will teach folks to elect S-willies from Arkansas to office don't you think?
