Instead of shorts creating a profit warning rumor Friday afternoon, what if this weakness came from the Sycamore story? I am not sure how valid this is, but after hearing a networking consultant talk about how the need for Juniper and Cisco routers may decrease if Sycamore's technology is more widely adopted, I can see how some "shoot first and ask questions later" types could have sold after seeing the meteoric rise of Sycamore on Friday.

The interview is at:

radiowallstreet.com

Just go down the page to the bottom and click on Gaskin's IPO Desktop
The interview starts around 1/3 through after a bunch of stuff about other IPOs... I would appreciate any comments. Thanks.

(And no, I am not associated with that site, but long enough networking stocks to be interested in these developments and the perception or misperception of developments.. <g>)

To be honest, I did'nt remember--

Before the year ends we will see a profit warning from Cisco. ... You've been warned!

Remember?

So, I went back and found your message-

Message 7635554

and then reviewed the context in which you went on record.
The context seems to have been the article in the SJ Merc
about Cisco's "Virtual Close"--about Larry Carter, the Cisco
CFO, having complete control and up-to-date information wrt.
the financial state of the whole enterprise. This avoids the usual scurry surrounding the Q and FY closings.

newslibrary.krmediastream.com

Sorry I did'nt save nor post the article but I remember it well.

So, now I remember, as you asked me to do so. Your post to me is now bookmarked. You said, on 2/3/99--

Before the year ends we will see a profit warning from Cisco. These investments geared up to branch into the telecoms segment aren't going tp pay back just as the customers' premises boxes had (so far). You've been warned!

I don't think you are right, but time will tell. You have
just 10 more weeks for your prophecy to be valid. I'll send
you a note on 1/1/2000.

Elmatador-- Greetings in the new year, century and millenium !!

You gave your warning, which I did not believe credible,
and I replied to you--

I also promised to send you this note. Hope things are well
with you in Sweden and that you see the telecom biz as
Cisco does. Good investing to you.
