How wide of an SDRAM chip do you suppose you could put into a 144-pin package? I'm thinking that a x64 DDR SDRAM would fit in there easily.

Possibly, but I think ground bounce would be horrendous.

By the way, I forgot to ask you what variety of FPGA you were using. FPGAs is sort of my specialty.
