Be careful and watch the accounting when they actually make the change. When Jack White was bought by Waterhouse, when they did the change of accounting, they funneled all my trades into the house account for a week and after 45 days when I got margin calls, I went to find out why an account wiht no margin loan on it has calls. I found they had put all my money away and then charged me with a loan. This was not small change, well over $100k. they have not, to this date, paid me back for the interest on the money they held and used. They have tried a few tiems to stick me with the margin interest, however.

I had heard that Waterhouse was now being run by an outside accounting firm and was under NYSE scrutiny, but it still does no good for getting my money back. They still to this day claim they have done nothing wrong.

take care!

I've been very pleased with Fidelity, Rick. The only complaints I've heard about them relate to their restrictive margin requirements, and I can't use margin in my ira at any rate. I find their Touch Tone Trader option to be an excellent back up to their web based trading system. If the web goes down, they will honor the lower transaction prices even if you use the phone <which has never gone down>.

Fidelity has a special options group you can call direct for fast executions of option trades. They can look at different exchanges for the best bid/ask, and direct your order to a non-default (CBOE) exchange if you like in order to get a better price. Very useful if you trade options much.

I'm pulling four accounts from DBD, too. Their service stinks. They screwed up some pre-split gifts of Q shares in early April and have yet to straighten it out. Use of SRO mechanism to get any factual problem resolved with any broker is a farce. I'm thinking of hiring pickets and to invite TV cameras to catch the scene in front of DBD's SF offices.
