I am placing my bets that AOL will announce a split WAY BEFORE it reaches "172"

I sure would like to know how one "bets" on a stock split. It's not as if it affects the value of anyone's AOL holding, apart from a short term bounce (which is highly dependent on the market's mood that day).

But if that's the talk of the day, I'll point out that AOL, like most stocks, tends to split at successively higher levels (up to a point, of course). The mid-90's splits all came below 100, and the more recent splits happened at roughly 130, 150, and 170.

Draw your own conclusions.
