Brown gives 100 quotes per trade. They go in a "quote bank"
and keep accumulating.

I don't know exactly what Dreyfus does, though they do have
some form of real-time quoting. I haven't used it. They
will track portfolios. I don't think it's real time but
don't know for sure.

Both give real-time quotes when you enter a trade (as do
most). Neither gives streaming quotes as far as I know.

Dreyfus shows real time prices on all stocks in your account when you ask for the account status page. You also get real time quotes on any stock when you ask for a quote, if you have logged in. You can ask for quotes on ten stocks at a time. I don't know if there is a daily limit.

For options, you get real time only if you set up a buy or sell, and preview the order. You can then cancel without placing the order. It is a bother to set up option orders on their screens though.

Dreyfus does not update your margin balance during the day. You have to do your own math on that.

Jeff, I am curious who you ended up with as your online broker. I have been crapped on my ETRADE, escaped to NDB and they are crapping on me, so I am on the move again.

I noticed your comment on quotes. I get my quotes from ESIG. Not cheap, but I can tell you that I paid for one year's service with one trade using their level2 that I could not have done on my own.

I started a NDB Sucks thread. A couple people besides myself have posted on it. I used to post on the ETRADE Sucks thread. Wish more people posted so maybe we could have more control over quality vs. "we got you".

thanks, pete2
