t2: Some hope? What is the case? Precedent setting when competitors not consumer advocacy brings complaints vs. a company. If the guy ruled against MSFT what would he do for a remedy as there is nothing to remedy. All the ideas that have been put forth are the wishful musings of people who have some irrational beef vs. MSFT. Where has the consumer been harmed. Everything involved with MSFT is lower cost from applications to peripherals. Go out and compare the costs of other systems. Not even the complainers have been harmed - look at NSCP,SUNW,AOL etc. they are prospering.

The consumer hasn't been harmed and the speculation that the consumer might be harmed in the future despite past evidence to the contrary is absurd.

In the mean time here is an early quote:

I think the upper brass at Microsoft are getting a little ticked off knowing that the stock has not advanced since February. After having one of the best quarterly earnings report ever and a very upbeat conference the stock did not do diddily. Microsoft seems to be in the same boat with Dell. The both of them are just sitting there going nowhere. The stock market had better do well from November through February or a lot of political careers are going to be thrown to the dumpster.

t2 -

When you think about this it's almost unbelievable. MSFT is lower by over $5 than it was a week or so before the massive earnings!!!

Not only that but the stock has no strength even at this level. Every slight downdraft in the market takes MSFT down with it.

There is now an effective cap on MSFT whiich whatever is casuing it, can, if it has seen off an earnings announcement suc as we have just seen, keep a tight lid on MSFT's stock price well into the year 2001.

Maybe thats what someone wants.. ie to make an investment in MSFT over the near term effectively dead money!

Whatever or whoever is responsible for this they are very very effective.

Best regards,

L

Well, Microsoft will go up if the market moves. There is no big deal if the judge rules against Microsoft , because , it will not be the final round, and the next round will last for years, and business will be as usual . When this case is finally settled, it will be well into 2000, and everything will be changed at that time , and Window may not be a source of major income for Microsoft at that time , and the whole industry may be completely different. All in all , it is the earning and growth will continue drive the stock upward.
If the judge rules for Microsoft, well, you know what will happen. Gap up big time !!!!
