Jeff, when I looked over Brown, I noticed that they charge you extra for just about everything. I especially liked the $15 (I think) charge for 'abusive order changes'. You might look at Waterhouse. $12 a turn, and they don't charge you extra if you sneeze while your order is live. They pay good interest on uninvested cash, and have some great money management tools.

Regards,

Barb

Jeff, I use Brown. They claim real time quotes, though many say they are not as current as they should be. I've never had any problem with them in that regard. I only have two negatives: 1. The interest rate they pay on cash balances is so low it makes them a no go at this firm. 2. They don't pay rebates on short sales.
So with those two negatives, I use them for my IRA, where I can't sell short and rarely hold cash anyway.
