Paul - RE: "When people want - or need - the FASTEST SYSTEM available, they expect to pay a premium price."

Why buy a $2,775 PIII 600E system w/DRDRAM when one can purchase an Athlon 700 system that is FASTER and CHEAPER?

The answer is because AMD hasn't made inroads in the high-end business market.

If people are willing to pay for higher performance as you say, then they should be willing to pay for future, FASTER Athlons.

re : When people want - or need - the FASTEST SYSTEM available, they expect to pay a premium price.

no , we are talking about RAMBUS RIMMS.

why pay 4 times as much for a solutions wich is only better in CERTAIN aspects (Bandwith!)...?

Did you say LATENCY? No you didnt!

it performs WORSE than pcc133 sdram on MOST benchmarks I have seen , on a BX board...now thats odd..intels own, old antique technogoly...of course at a very low price, pared with VIA's memory standard , gives you a performance equal or greater than intels over expensive low-latency lots-a-bugs rambust-ram ? And I didnt even mention the price..or did I ..oh I did..

Now about those Alien Mutant Blasting games, you can tell me wich type of software was used to show that the K6 was inferior to the pentium mmx series, ..ok you are right.
Games.

Now you tell me wich software is appreciated by the infamous "tweaker" market....right. Those people are the ones who make or brake a cpu...what was wrong with the Celeron ? Nothing from a sales view, everything from a "tweakers view" ....oh ok , ...oh wait.....CeleronA came out after that..geee..what a surprise! Not because of the gaming market..never ! :)

ok now im going to bed, you bore me paul.
You are repeating the intel marketing department..good job on that one....but I rather believe real-live benchmarks compared in equal systems , equal settings and either both or none of them with extra optimalisations on the software (read : compiler) end.

FHWL ,michael.

Paul, re:<When people want - or need - the FASTEST SYSTEM available, they expect to pay a premium price.>

The fastest x86 system is still the 900 MHz Kryotech. By a long shot.
