A Learjet model 35 was involved in an accident in South Dakota on Oct. 25,
1999. The aircraft, being operated in charter service by Sunjet Aviation,
Inc. of Sanford, Fla., had logged more than 10,000 flying hours in service
and 7,500 takeoffs and landings at the time of the accident. It was
originally delivered in April, 1976. Sunjet Aviation has no affiliation
with Learjet, Flexjet or any of Bombardier's programs.
Bombardier Aerospace extends its deepest sympathies to the families of
those involved.
The Learjet Model 35 was manufactured by Learjet from 1974 until 1993. More
than 670 were delivered. The Learjet 35 fleet has accumulated more than
4.13 million hours of flight and more than 3.4 million flights. The
aircraft has a range in excess of 2,200 nautical miles, a maximum cruising
altitude of 45,000 feet and a cruise speed of Mach .81.
Bombardier Aerospace has no additional details on the accident at this
time. Bombardier has dispatched an accident investigator to work with the
National Transportation Safety Board at the scene in South Dakota.
