Thanks for the links/articles. I agree with Jubak -- and own most of the companies he mentions at the beginning. Will have to take a look at MFNX -- my favorites remain WCOM and GBLX. While I haven't paid much attention to VSTR, I wouldn't be surprised to see that one taken over in the not-too-distant future.

The Fortune article is, I think, too clever by half. There may be no "significant" synergies between completing Grandma's long distance call from Topeka and providing corporate internet in Europe, but both can be done from the same network at zero incremental cost. Yes, there may be some shedding of "non-core" businesses, but I can't imagine Bernie shedding virtually any of his telecom assets. 2+2 does equal 5 in this industry. JMHO.
