It doesn't for some reason, seem like a real good idea to have OTC derivative contracts that are not backed by gold. It may not be now, but at some time, there must come a point where a small move up in the POG will be exagerated by the short covering. I think that's whats going on in the equity markets also. The leverage of index derivatives are keeping the indices afloat while the rest of the market tanks. However, my grandpa use to say, What goes around comes around.

Is there no way out for these large players to get out fron underneath all these short positions without causing chaos?
