"Intel to be added to Dow Jones Industrial Average"

cbs.marketwatch.com

I guess it is only a matter of time now before intEL drags the DOW below 10,000 .

Do you suppose that if AMD were substituted the DOW might have a shot at 20,000 ?

Ted, <But my point was that they have the financial resources to buy an Electronic ARTs or a THQI and possibly pull off a reasonable entry into the gaming business. I figure they have the same odds...decent but not great...as intc has in its attempt to enter the networking business.>

Fair enough. I'm just not so certain that MS is as serious about this new gaming box as Sony is about Playstation II. At least Intel has a method behind the madness of all its acquisitions. (Or maybe it's because I understand Intel's strategy better than Microsoft's.)

I still wonder whatever happened to Intel's initiative to try and push the Pentium-class processors into video arcade machines. There are some games in the arcades these days which proudly display the 3dfx logo, but I hear that those games sport a Cyrix MediaGX of all processors.

<Show me where I said intc's very existence in CPUs is questionable?>

Maybe it was someone else. But you are definitely not an unbiased guy, considering how 99% of your posts are down on INTC and up on AMD.

<Far worse than a bias is the mentality and attitude of the some of the intc posters which permits them to realize such great pleasure at denigrating and humiliating others. In a word its sick. If anything concerns you, it should be that. Why doesn't it?>

Because sometimes I have the same problem with some extremely rabid AMD fans. It goes both ways.
