Anandtech reviews Pentium IIIE (Coppermine) with the new FC-PGA 370 (socket) package:

anandtech.com

The flip chip packaging is pretty neat and compact, but thus far, it only works in 810e motherboards because of voltage incompatibilities with older Socket-370 motharboards. Not surprisingly, performance is hampered compared to a Pentium IIIE on a 440BX motherboard.

RE: "Salomon Smith Barney cuts their FY99"

Now I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but SSB will be compelled to buy Intel on 11/1 for any fund that promises to mirror the DOW. Could this be an attempt to beat the stock down while they buy? Notice they still have a buy rating and a $95 target... maybe that's being used to keep their customers from punching out on this dip or maybe it gives them an opportunity to buy in. Did Kurlak show up at SSB?

My guess is most of the other analysts will wait for the Intel dog and pony show before commenting. Let's hope for an UPBEAT meeting!!!
