Is this a concern or a blessing? After all, 85% of actively managed funds underperform the S&P 500. These guys are more of a contrary indicator than anything else.

Re: Institutional holdings.....perhaps you missed this.

Message 11710015

You need to understand that analyzing institutional ownership is a complex exercise....you really have to look at who it is and try to draw some conclusions from there...and it is not always apparent on the surface of things what the significance is one way or the other. The other thing is that these guys go in and out incrementally all the time. I would always look at the stock's price action first when examining this and quite clearly CYMI's price action is signaling full speed ahead. I don't think there is any doubt that a run at the 52 week high is in the cards here.

Good Luck To Each And All

Institutional holding definition from the MoneyCentral site:

Alert Description
This alert signals a drop of at least 5% in institutional holdings of a company's stock.

Financial institutions like banks, insurance companies, hedge funds and pension trusts own the vast majority of shares of stocks around the world. As an example, the largest public mutual fund that only owns shares of companies in the Standard & Poor's 500 Index -- the Vanguard Index Trust 500 Portfolio -- has less than $50 billion in assets. In contrast, the world's financial institutions are estimated to hold more than $600 billion worth of S&P 500 stocks.

Financial institutions by this definition does NOT include mutual funds. I wonder if there is some way to track those holdings?

Gary.
