The six-day-old truckers strike to protest against the recent hike in diesel fares has been called off following an agreement
between the strikers and the government late tonight.

Though the government has not conceded the demand of the truckers to roll back the prices of diesel that had been raised by
35 per cent, it has agreed to meet several other demands including granting transport the status of an industry.
