Frank, Many funds do a lot of sector rotation. When they want out high risk tech stocks like IBM/HWP/CPQ which sell high end servers, they will exit Intel, MSFT , Gateway, and Dell at the same time. At least the buying in these will stop for a little while. It looks like financials are going to be the hot sector going forward is the economic numbers are tame tomorrow. Just the way it is. I gave up my plan to add MSFT/INTEL today. Going to wait just before the decision from Jackson before adding. Companies like Gateway, Dell, MSFT, INTC have said they see no problems but no one is listening---at least yet. This may set us up for big gains late year or January as the traders come back in. In a month or so, people will forget about Q4 but instead look forward to Q1 of 2000. You can bet many funds will be accumulating shares in the safe Y2K stocks like MSFT as the unsafe ones like HP get hit. I plan to slow down my buying so i get shares over about a 2 week period. Whatever is lost now should be made up later in the year possibly resulting in bigger run ups than usual leading to january earnings. Might as well play the hot sectors in the meantime. Maybe even the internets will pick up steam along with Junipers, JDSU, QCOM and maybe even stocks like LU, NT. This news out of Hewlett won't help although it may have been already factored into most PC related stocks: cbs.marketwatch.com
