RESEARCH ALERT - Applied EPS view raised
NEW YORK, Oct 28 (Reuters) - Credit Suisse First Boston analyst Elliott Rogers raised his outlook for earnings per share at semiconductor equipment maker Applied Materials Inc. Thursday.

-- In a report, he raised the estimate for fiscal 1999 to $1.73 from $1.72. Rogers boosted his outlook for fiscal 2000 to $3.05 from $2.85.

-- He set a fiscal 2001 earnings estimate of $4 a share and a $100 target price.

-- Rogers said business prospects were improving and the company likely would guide analysts' outlooks higher next month.

-- Applied Materials reports fourth-quarter earnings Nov.

-- Shares were trading up 2-15/16 at 82-1/4 at midday.
