Oh, you must have been going half crazy! I remember being offline last December and it was so frustrating! Unable to read a whole load of newspapers that I normally read, unable to get e-mails that were important--well, I was ready to scream. One SI friend, with whom I have periodically exchanged insults but who has been a perfect brick in tough times, set up a College Club account just to share banter while I was offline. Also remembering when 'phone service was out for 24 hours because of stupid workmen fixing my window--crazed feeling. It's amazing how desperately we cherish ways of communicating that we didn't even have before. When Neocon was without power, he expected restoration quickly; otherwise, he'd have headed to a Kinko's that had its own generator, just to reassure family and friends that he was O.K. Do you have one on the island?
