Your Grandfather apparently was not around for the 70+ hour workweek of the old Milltowns in Massachussetts..Children 12 years old could only work 56 hours a week.. White Women worked as many hours as their "Slaveholders wanted them to..(not all slaves were Black) They worked in woolen mills with wool flying into their sandwiches they ate for lunch with no time set aside to eat.These same factories had a sign posted on the door..No Irish Catholics Allowed' but they took their women??? I personally have been in A classroom when a fellow student was called from the classroom to hear that their father had been killed in a cave in at a coal mine where men crawled in a two foot seam of coal with a pick and shovel to dig out the coal at 200+ feet underground..with carbide lamps on their caps to light their way..( If you have the stomach for it get theVideo titled MATAWAN) and learn something about the People we owe this countrys freedom to..and the birth of the Union in this nation Remember this Coal powered the Factories that Made WWII War Products..Ever hear of Rosie the Riviter'?? She gave birth to the ERA...You and I owe our freedom to these courageous people..Never Bite the Hand that Feeds you' or speak without benefit of brain' ;-)
