jim-- that is not true. He has a substancial holding in DELL, actually bigger than cpq, and has no reason to "casting DELL in a losing light while seeing only a bright future for CPQ.". Who could not understand DELL has been the clear winner in the sector for an investor for some time while CPQ has been a true loser and would be in any sector. He sees a comeback as do must -- I only see honesty in his posts. Being that I am a very disgusted long that sees a comeback taking substancially longer than my stomach would condone in current mkts I am probably more in tune than those of blind faith in this sorry excuse for an investment. You are off base-- cricicizing the wrong dude very unjustly,,, he was very correct and civil to your post,,, and thankfully ignores my bitching...

jim, every single statement from your previous post got a very
detailed, factual and to the point answer from rudedog...

If I were you I would be ashamed to even try to respond after that.
I guess you just don't give up, do you? Why do you bother to post on
this thread? Are you by any chance a secret admirer of Dr. Goebels
who used to say that any lie repeated a thousand times gets finally
accepted as the truth?

/Piotr

Jim -
As other posters have noted, if "voting with my wallet" counts, I have a more substantial investment in DELL than in any other holding.

But my gut feel is that taking today as a baseline (and not say the first weeks in January) that CPQ will show more appreciation than DELL. It seems quite reasonable to think that CPQ will be trading in the 30's in the first half of next year. I doubt if DELL will be in the 60's, but I could be wrong.

I managed to make over 20% on DELL so far this year, despite less than 8% improvement in the underlying stock price. If DELL's pattern is similar in 2000, I will probably get even more aggressive in options strategies. A 30% return ain't bad. CPQ has obviously not been a good options vehicle this year, but might be better next year. I plan to do covered calls on DELL and sell puts on CPQ assuming the stocks behave as I expect.
