Jonas, I think you are absolutely right about business to
individual consumer. In the U.S. conventional businesses
have caught up. But, as you remarked, there still is BtoB
and also there is the infrastructure. In Japan, it's not so. Conventional businesses move slowly. Think of a world where there are no stock options and nobody is fired, (just shoved towards the window) and it's rare to hire somebody who has worked anywhere else. That's the atmosphere inside of a typical Japanese corporation. The loyalty is tremendous but the leap to new arenas is slow. With instant communications its hard to imagine how different different countries still remain. By the way it's still the case that local calls are
expensive in Japan so many people I know there are disinclined to use the internet, for that reason. Softbank
will change that.
