seems gateway may have it right...

the 3rd slot problem may be confined to intel's motherboards.
here is a link to a gateway mobo. i found this link at the yahoo message board last night. clearly shows 3 rimm slots. scroll down to the specifications and read the ram capacity. gateway seems to be flaunting 3 slots and memory capacity. the site is just a few days old. you can check this by right clicking on the picture, then click on properties and read the date created, oct 25, 1999.

That is a very apt quote and true. But there is a quote for every occasion and for each side of the argument.

"Only truth builds" (JW von Goethe). Intel wanted to artificially impose an impractical memory standard on the industry for reasons other than it being the best thing for the industry. It backfired.

Ah well, "Time will tell (traditional)".
