Re: Compaq P-III-700 system advertised in the Best Buy...

Both it, and the advertised Compaq Athlon, are available through the "in store ordering kiosk" (although I have seen compaq Athlons actually sitting on the shelves as well in recent weeks). Note that the machines in the Ad are listed with the price "not including shipping".

Availability could be 48 hours or 4 weeks - and I'm not confident the store personnel have valid information on the actual time yet, either.

Intel has done what AMD did, announced the chips when they started shipping them to the OEMs. In the case of AMD, it was about a month before there was finished product out there in the form of built PCs - given that there are far fewer trust and political issues involved in the Coppermine launch, it won't take as long for Coppermine.

Regards,

Dan
