Pilgrims.....Ref: Nashville Facilities.....I don't recall this being posted. Forgive me if i'm a week late on this one.CONSTRUCTION Dated 10/25/99 Dell picks local, New York builders By Richard Lawson / Tennessean Staff Writer Dell Computer Corp. has selected New York-based Turner Universal Construction Co. to build two large office buildings on the land Nashville gave the behemoth computer maker to lure it here, according to an official from an architectural firm working with Dell. The two office buildings are the first of several buildings Dell plans to build on land next to the Nashville International Airport, said Tim Lambe, vice president of architectural services for Gobbell Hays Partners. Together, the four buildings Dell now has planned would measure about 750,000 square feet, or slightly more than 13 football fields. Nashville-based T.W. Frierson Contractor landed the work for another building that will house Dell's computer-repair operations, Lambe said. T.W. Frierson did the construction on Dell's Lebanon facility. A fourth building will house a manufacturing operation, Lambe said. Dell officials couldn't be reached to comment on construction plans for this building, including which contractor was selected to build it. Lambe detailed the plans for Nashville real estate industry officials during a bus tour sponsored by the Nashville chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties. The Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency currently is having the former Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute demolished. The first office building could be completed by next May, Lambe said. One office building will have two stories and the other will have three. Together they will total about 300,000 square feet. Charley Hankla, a real estate agent with Colliers Turley Martin Tucker, said: "That's almost seven acres under one roof."J.D.
