Air Force, Navy launch massive relief operation

NEW DELHI: The Air Force and the Navy on Monday launched massive relief and rescue operations in cyclone-hit Orissa. A cell, ``Ops-Sahayata', has been formed at the Air Headquarters here to mointor the operations round-the-clock. While eight MI-8 helicopters have started air-dropping operations, three IL-76 aircraft have been pressed into service to airlift Army personnel from Jodhpaur and Chandigarh. One Dornier aircraft has been positioned at Vizag to airlift naval divers. Arrangements are also underway to airlift motorised boats from Mumbai.
