gbh: First I must thank you for your concise presentations.

I believe you have pinpointed the technology issues. The
36170 does fit the Edge switch requirements but there is gap that the comparable Carrier core switch (36190) has not filled.

What is the reason why the 36190 did not make it and who now dominates the core switch market.?

Thanks.

Although the 36170 is aging a bit, its life cycle is still intact as an edge switch. However, it can't compete as a core switch today with larger carriers. Even TM stated this in the CC. This puts NN at a tremendous disadvantage for those carriers wanting a heterogeneous solution (most???).

Why do you think most carriers would prefer a heterogeneous solution?
