I didn't read the quotes you put up, having been driven by distaste from this place, but I did have it called to my attention that you had discontinued posting excerpts from the Reagan book on a different thread (a choice you made, I believed, because you understood it would not be a good idea to continue on that theme on feelies), and resumed the Reagan theme on feelies by posting pro-Reagan quotes here. Is that incorrect? Obviously, that book and many others offer to me many "facts to put on the table," ("cherries to pick"), and if I had chosen to do that, the nature of the exchange would have been clear, would it not? You believe you have the right to call it "merely posting facts" only because I chose not to engage you further by responding in kind, isn't that correct? Neo, you are too sophisticated a person where the uses of language are concerned to believe that the description "merely posting facts" in the context that existed here is not a somewhat self-serving one. If I misunderstood, and that is not a description of what you did, and you were picking from the book a balance of positive and negative material, both of which exist in abundance in it, then "cherry-picking" was certainly a wrong term. Would you clarify for me either by PM or here whether I misunderstood, and how? Were you in fact actually posting equally (your choices of) material that would have supported my position, also? And would you tell me what "this is pretty much the end" means? The thread as it existed before the new ethic of argument was introduced, and not by me, has been only a memory for some time. Each of my questions here is sincerely asked. I would be very interested to know: ~why the term "cherry picking" for what you did is unfair. ~whether you posted, equally, material supporting my position, too. ~what the term "this is pretty much the end" means, at this late date. ~what inaccurate characterization of mine made you speechless and why. Neo, please don't reply to these questions with a wave of the hand, but rather with specificity. I would appreciate that!
