I think, however, of much more import is your post today: Orissa: Super Cyclone disaster -Casualties may exceed 10,000, That said, I do (of course) have a few comments. First and foremost, anyone who characterizes any nation with such a ludicrous and broad brushstroke as this: Americans lap up religion by the bushelful and the boatload, regardless of how primitive or stupid it is. forfeits credibility and respect. Why, I think to myself, would the people of one particular nation act this way, and not all the others? Second: it is no business of America's what India does to Indian Christians So, we are not interconnected, you and I? If I am an Indian living in the US is it my business then? If I am an Indian who became an American citizen is it my business? If my wife is Indian is it my business? If my mother-in-law is Indian is it my business? If my dearest friend is Indian is it my business? Where do we draw the line separating us? And these are the people who will sit in judgement on others' religions? Anyone, as far as I'm concerned, can judge anyone else's religion. Just as Rajeev has. I find all chauvinism and chauvinists misguided, and usually, as here, laughably ignorant. But I admit I did agree with this: Indian Christians deserve -- and we should all give them -- exactly as much respect as any other Indian. I wonder about a personality which does not extend that respect to Christians elsewhere. Best wishes, Tom
